Located in Himachal Pradesh, near Dharamshala, Kareri Lake is a glacial lake nestled in the Dhauladhar range at 2,934 metres.
Route: Kareri Village - Rioti - Kareri Lake Duration: 7–8 hours total
Difficulty: Moderate
Walk through a pine forest, spot birds, and cross the Nyund stream. Keep an eye out for Himalayan griffons and local shepherds.
Camp by the nallah, eat Maggi and dal-chawal, or stay in a cosy Gaddi hut under the stars.
Cross a small hill with a Shiv temple and reach the beautiful glacial lake surrounded by rocks, meadows, and snowy peaks.
By Air: Fly to Kangra Airport, then drive to Kareri
By Train: Reach Pathankot, then take a cab/bus
By Road: Drive or take a bus to Dharamshala, then head to Kareri village
