How to spend a day in Kufri

7:00 AM

Wake to a charming vibe at The Hosteller Kufri and a majestic surrounding view. Start your day with a freshly brewed cup of hot coffee (just what you need on a chilly morning in Kufri) and a lip-smacking breakfast to fuel your morning.

9:00 AM

If the weather is just right, it's time to visit Mahasu Peak, the highest point in Kufri. It is approximately 8 km from The Hosteller Kufri. You get glorious views of the Badrinath and Kedarnath ranges from this peak. You can trek to the peak or hire horses or mules, which cost about INR 650 per ride.

It's time to fuel up with local food at the peak at Babli Jinu Dhaba. Enjoy Rajma Chawal, Kadhi Chawal, and many other local dishes as a fulfilling lunch. just what you need after an adventure-filled morning.

Located just 700 m away from Mahasu Peak is Kufri Adventure Park, with exciting activities like zip-lining, skydiving, and bungee jumping, among others. You can also enjoy snow activities like skiing and ice go-karting.

Rupin Pass stretches over 65 kilometers between the states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and is unquestionably one of India's Greatest Crossover Treks. The trek climbs to an altitude of 4,650 meters, is a moderate-level trek ideal for trekkers who have already completed an easy one. Enjoy green meadow to stiff mountain paths and snow-capped peaks in this trek.

This sanctuary has nine perennial streams created as a water reserve for Shimla. The sanctuary has been 940 acres of protected area for the past 125 years. Chail sanctuary is connected with Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife Sanctuary at its south end. You can also expect to spot wildlife like Indian red fox, goral, pheasants, and jackal.

An hour-long drive from Kufri, this hidden gem is unknown to many. You can also enjoy the Tattapani hot springs on the Sutlej River bed. A dip in these springs can rejuvenate, cure and refresh you.

Built in 1850, The Retreat Building is the official residence of the President of India when he visits here for two weeks to conduct official business. The architect of this building will leave you grounded; made purely out of wood, it is a must-visit in Kufri.

The Jakhu Temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman located on Jakhu hill at 2455 m. The temple also has a 33-m-high statue of Lord Hanuman. According to the legend of Ramayana, Hanuman stopped at Jakhu to rest during his quest to find the Snajivini Booti to bring Lakshaman back to life. The temple is open between 8 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm.
