The area is divided into two sections: one located on an elevation, known as 'Malla,' and the other located downhill, known as 'Talla.' The elevation ranges from 1400 to 1900 meters. Because of the lush-green orchards of peaches, apricots, pears, and apples, this area is also known as the 'Fruit Bowl of Kumaon' and the list of things to do in Ramgarh is endless. 

The breathtaking views of the snow-covered Himalayas, combined with the tranquil atmosphere of the area, make it an ideal holiday destination. Fun fact: The British used to spend a lot of time at this location. Many famous personalities, including Rabindra Nath Tagore and Narain Swami, have established ashrams here in awe of its beauty.

1. Visit Nathuakhan 

Nathuakhan, a small captivating hamlet near Ramgarh, is primarily known for its scenic beauty. With its hilly terrains, verdant valleys, and dense cover of lush green forest, this village is a great place to unwind and enjoy solitude away from the hustle and bustle of the cities.

2. Walk Through Fruit Orchards 

Ramgarh is well-known for its refreshing orchards, which should not be missed. These orchards, which cover a large area of town, provide a mesmerizing experience with each stroll and is one of the most peaceful things to do in Ramgarh. The beautiful weather is an added bonus that will refresh both your mind and body. The place fully justifies its nickname "Fruit Bowl of Kumaon" with an abundance of exotic fruits grown here such as strawberries, apples, pears, apricot, and peaches, among others. 

3. Take Nature Walks 

Ramgarh draws visitors with its dense forest and lush green pastures. Ramgarh and some of the nearby notable forests offer trails and mountain walks. One can go to the Ramgarh Nainital market and return or go ahead with the old bungalows and see the magnificent scenery.

4. Explore Mukteshwar 

Mukteshwar is a small hill town in Uttarakhand about 25 kilometres from Ramgarh. It is known for adventure sports and a breathtaking view of the Himalayan ranges. It is named after the 350-year-old Shiva Temple housed here, Mukteshwar Dham. The name of the charming town comes from the belief that Lord Shiva killed a demon here and granted him Mukti, or salvation. If you want to do more interesting things in Ramgarh, extend beyond the hamelet and visit the nearby towns too. 

5. Visit The Bhimtal Lake 

You can't be this close to Nainital and not go to Bhimtal Lake. This lake is the largest in the Kumaon region. The lake provides drinking water and supports aquaculture with a diverse range of fish species. Head to the lake for a beautiful sunset boat ride with your friends and family. Enjoy some delectable snacks before concluding your evening with the best view.

6. Go On Jungle Walks 

The pathways leading up to Tagore's house, are some of the best trekking paths through the jungle in Nainital. This is where he lived and began writing Gitanjali before leaving Ramgarh after losing his daughter, The location also gives some of the best views of the Himalayas. One of the most amazing things to do in Ramgarh is to start walking without any destination in mind and soak it the nature that it offers.

7. Enjoy Bird-Watching 

The region is noted for having a large variety of bird species and has various hiking paths, making it a haven for bird lovers. Woodpeckers, mynahs, pipits, red and jungle fowl, Indian peafowl, blue whistling thrushes, and other birds can all be seen. There are reportedly over 2000 species of birds in Pangot, which is about 45 kilometres from the town.
