Every Hostel We Opened In 2023 - A Photo Tour

In 2023, we opened doors to 17 brand new hostels. From the lush green vegetation of the tropical forests of Wayanad and the royal blue streets of Jodhpur to the fragrant snow capped peaks of Manali and busy bustling pub districts of Bangalore. India was peppered with beautiful, bright and lively backpacker hostels that you all loved. And if you weren't able to keep up with the Kardashians, we mean the hostels, here is a specially curated photo blog for you.

1. The Hosteller Kasol Parvati Valley

Travellers love spending time watching the sun go down from the terrace at the hostel. The misty mountains are right in front of you.

The cafe at the hostel is another great spot in the hostel to soak up the winter sun and order some of our delicious baked goods.

We started the year very strong and opened our third hostel in Kasol. Known as the Mini Israel of India, Kasol has been one of our most popular locations ever since we launched our first Kasol hostel back in 2015. 

2. The Hosteller Mcleodganj Mall Road

Day or evening, travellers can catch jaw dropping views of the snow capped Dhauladhar mountains from the terrace cafe 

Stunning Thangka inspired art and textile work dots the common area, soothing the soul

Itching that Himachal Pradesh scratch, our next hostel was our second hostel in Mcleodganj, this time right on the bustling Mall Road. Local culture and Tibetan influences dot this beautiful hostel and the views from our spectacular terrace cafe is the cherry on the cake. 

3. The Hosteller Jeolikote

We are the only backpacker hostel in all of Jeolikote

Colourful murals, comfortable seetees and cozy sofas make the common room one of the best hangout spots in the hostel

Next up for us was one of the most breathtaking and offbeat destinations in Uttarakhand. Jeolikote is this charming town situated in the Kumaoni Himalayas and perfect for a 2 day getaway. The Hosteller Jeolikote is perched amidst the rolling hills of lower Uttarakhand and enjoys misty weather all year round.

4. The Hosteller Rishikesh Upper Tapovan

The common area at the hostel is always a lively place, complete with comfortable seating and some cool quirky tiling 

The terrace is another awesome place to chill, with the terrace pool taking center stage and seeing a lot of action 

Our second hostel in March 2023 was our third location in Rishikesh. Sounds a bit confusing, doesn't it? But you guys love staying with us in Rishikesh and all we wanted to do was accommodate more of you guys wherever you wanted. Thus came our third and grand Rishikesh hostel in Upper Tapovan. 

5. The Hosteller Bhandardara

The single cabanas are for travellers who love some time on their own. Novelty aside, these cottages offer some of the best views in the hostel. There is also a trail near them that leads to the lake.

Our eco-friendly green cottages are covered in artificial grass for a natural feel and to keep the rooms cool.

April started wonderfully for us with our second location in Maharashtra - the gorgeous Bhandardara. One of our largest backpacker hostels, this place includes swathes of open area to roam, a lakeside camping experience, sensational views from all cottages, a multi-purpose court, an amphitheatre, a cyling track and much more. This was the hostel where we hosted hundreds of campers during the year and also celebrated the Firefly Festival.

6. The Hosteller Mussoorie Mall Road

Balconies in The Hosteller Mussoorie Mall Road offer great views of the dawning sun for those late winter evenings 

Warm sun washes over our common areas and provide a comfortable hangout area all day round. Perfect for pictures too. 

That month we also expanded our existing hostel in Mussoorie Mall Road, adding an entire new wing with more rooms, dorms, common areas and some scintillating views. This hostel is located right next to our existing Mussorie Mall Road hostel and also has a cafe. 

7. The Hosteller Goa Arpora

Located amidst lush vegetation in North Goa, The Hosteller Arpora is a retreat filled with rest, relaxation and rejuvenation

This location definitely became a 'party capital' for the company, seeing so many dusk to dawn dance parties

The second half of April was 'party coded' as we opened not one but 2 hostels in Goa. Arpora was our biggest Goa hostel till date, where we launched our first ever villa-style rooms; which were a big hit with you guys by the way. Our poolside bar was the cherry on the cake at this location.

8. The Hosteller Goa Candolim

Located amidst lush vegetation in North Goa, The Hosteller Arpora is a retreat filled with rest, relaxation and rejuvenation 

This location definitely became a 'party capital' for the company, seeing so many dusk to dawn dance parties 

The second half of April was 'party coded' as we opened not one but 2 hostels in Goa. Arpora was our biggest Goa hostel till date, where we launched our first ever villa-style rooms; which were a big hit with you guys by the way. Our poolside bar was the cherry on the cake at this location. 

9. The Hosteller Bangalore Koramangala

Perfect to witness the orange sunsets amidst the buildings of Bangalore, our terrace lounge sees many candid guitar performances

The ground floor common area is always abuzz with people working, planning their travels or people gazing through the glass windows

We entered our Bangalore era next, with our first Bangalore hostel in one of the hottest and busiest districts of the city - Koramangala. Located right amidst the most popular bars and eateries of Koramangala, this hostel saw a fantastic occupancy right from the day of launch. This amazing city hostel has a one of a kind common area on the ground floor that is perfect for all our Bangalore longstayers who love working till 2 am. The terrace lounge are is another great option too.

10. The Hosteller Bangalore Brigade Road

Our bright yellow hostel in the middle of the busy and colorful Brigade Road is unmissable 

Our terrace area is perfect to enjoy the Banglore breeze with your fellow backpackers and watch a late night comedy show 

Another day, another slay in Bamgalore with our second location in Brigade Road; another amazingly lively location. Walkable distance from the famous Church Road (yes, where the Blossoms Bookshop is), this hostel is furnished with a grand terrace area that has a projector, a mini stage and several interesting seating arranagements. 

11. The Hosteller Heritage Palace Jodhpur

Red standstone binds our first ever palace hostel with green lawns on both sides and the Kaylana Lake behind it

The lavish pool area at the hostel is amazing for a relaxing time under the embrace of Rajasthan's starry skies

Late monsoon was all about expanding into Rajasthan and opening two brand new hostels. Jodhpur was a special one because this was our first ever 'palace hostel'. Nestled inside a 100 year old Rajasthani palace, The Hosteller Heritage House Jodhpur is a one in a kind experience for all.

12. The Hosteller Opera House Udaipur

The Hosteller Opera House Udaipur features a huge common area/lounge space that can accommodate all your party and birthday needs

The outdoor lounge is complete with a pool, spacious wicker seating and a pizzeria for those fresh wood fired treats

Udaipur too was something we never did, a hostel built inside the very building that hosted a grand Royal Opera House back in the time of the royals. Indicative of their elagance, this hostel still hold the look and feel of a Opera House with it's high ceilings, mezzanine area and beautiful lounge areas.

13. The Hosteller Gokarna

Stone's throw from Kudle Beach, The Hosteller Gokarna is settled amidst the deep blue sea and lush paddy fields

The shaded pool area has neon lights around it that make it the life of the party on those wild nights

The Hosteller Gokarna was extremely vital and special to us because we had been wanting a hostel here for a long time but weren't able to find quite that right fit. Finally in September, it all fell into place and we secured an amazing property mere minutes from one of Gokarna's best beaches.

14. The Hosteller Gurugram

Located only a few kilometers away from WorkMark Gurgaon, AIPL Joy Street and Airia Mall, The Hosteller Gurugram is the perfect pitstop 

The hostel is furnished with a tailored-to-needs cafe where you can order from a wide range of à la carte dishes or enjoy the never ending benefits of a buffet. 

September also saw our first ever hostel in NCR, The Hosteller Gurugram. A love letter to all our frequent travellers who time and time again told us that just Delhi wasn't enough, this hostel is smart, city centric and located next to all the popular cafes, malls and entertainment areas in the city.

15. The Hosteller Chakrata

A multi-storey dreamlike hostel in the middle of Garhwal's verdant green hills, Chakrata is a huge one of a kind hostel

The courtyard in the middle is flanked by the villas on one side, private rooms on one and the cafe on the other end

Chakrata was a very special and big decision for us. A large hostel in quite an offbeat location of Uttarakhand. But once we saw the pictures and videos of the fairytale snow cover Chakrata gets in the winters, we were instantly game. And its been a blessed journey since.

16. The Hosteller Wayanad

Beautiful and calming bamboo walkways dot the hostel, perfect for evening and morning walks

Our third hostel in Kerala was marked by the gorgeous Wayanad, another instant hit with you guys. Located only 5 kilometers from the renowned Pookode Lake and with views of Chembra Peaks on clear days, this hostel is nothing less than a perfect tropical jungle retreat.

17. The Hosteller Manali, Old Manali

The swing surrounded by the flower gardens at The Hosteller Old Manali is perfect for a moment of bonding, or solitude

The workspace cum common area inside the hostel is flush with natural light and serves up some impeccable local treats

The year ended with opening our second location in Manali, bang on the busy Mall Road. Himachal has a lot of hostels so we forget the count, but you get it. Manali was and always will be a well loved location for backpackers and long time travellers alike.

And with that, the 2023 season comes to an end. Now you know our entire journey from January to December of last year. This year, heads and hopes are high and we promise to bring you an even longer list of hostels in the year 2024 - maybe even double or triple last year's count. What say?
